Taxes

These two emails were sent to me and I thought they should be shared.

"Interesting . . . made me think!

At first, I thought this was funny...then I realized the awful truth of it.
Be sure to read all the way to the end!

Tax his land, Tax his bed, Tax the table at which he's fed.
Tax his tractor, Tax his mule, and teach him taxes are the rule.
Tax his work, Tax his pay, He works for peanuts anyway!

Tax his cow, Tax his goat, Tax his pants, Tax his coat.
Tax his ties, Tax his shirt, Tax his work, Tax his dirt.

Tax his tobacco, Tax his drink, Tax him if he Tries to think.
Tax his cigars, Tax his beers, If he cries tax his tears.
Tax his car, Tax his gas, Find other ways to tax his ass.
Tax all he has then let him know that you won't be done till he has no dough.

When he screams and hollers, then tax him some more, tax him till He's good and sore.
Then tax his coffin, tax his grave, tax the sod in which he's laid.

Put these words upon his tomb, 'Taxes drove me to my doom...'
When he's gone, do not relax, it’s time to apply the inheritance tax...

STILL THINK THIS IS FUNNY? Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago, and our nation was the most prosperous in the world. We had absolutely no national debt, had the largest middle class in the world, and Mom stayed home to raise the kids. What in the hell happened? Can you spell 'politicians?'And I still have to 'press 1' for English!?!?!?!? I hope this goes around THE USA at least 100 times!!!!! YOU can help it get there!!!!GO AHEAD - - - BE AN AMERICAN!!!!!!"

And now the reply:

“A hundred years ago we didn’t have highways, federal law enforcement, space program, military industrial complex, FDA, social security and other entailments , EPA, FCC, Homeland Security, SEC, PBS, GI-Bill, student grants, student loans, funding for the arts, expanded VA Hospitals, NTSB, FAA, TSA, Department of Labor, Department of Energy, a large National Park System, OSHA etc….

A hundred years ago we had children in sweat shops with locked fire escapes, rampant poverty among all age groups but most of all the children and the elderly, unsafe food, unregulated medicine, dumping of pollutants and carcinogens into our drinking water. We had unchecked air pollution. Work place safety was ignored with thousands dying. So stop being so selfish, we are one of the least taxed nations in the world. Stop your complaining and let’s get to work re-building this nation!

David”

Thanks David for reminding us that our taxpayer’s dollars can and should be used to help those in this country who cannot help themselves. The fight is not to stop paying taxes but to make sure that those dollars are spent smartly to help Americans. Our fight is with special interest groups and the lobbyists that speak for them and not with the government programs that protect health and safety for all Americans and provide a well educated workfore for the future of this nation.
