Today is Saint Patty’s Day. I live in a state where most of the population is Hispanic so you do not see any rivers being dyed green. I grew up back east where the day was a major holiday. My great grandparents on both my mother’s and father’s side were from Ireland. I have a very Irish last name. In school if you forgot to wear green you ended up black and blue by the end of the day. I am very fond of this holiday and will practice the old custom of “The wearing of the Green” today. The thing to remember is that today everyone is a little Irish. May the luck of the Irish be with all democratic candidates today and may republicans live in interesting times.Monday, March 17, 2008
