Justice Sonia Sotomayor Confirmed by the U.S. Senate

We now have our first female Hispanic justice on the highest court in the land. Let’s hope she can add a little spice to our U.S. Supreme Court in the coming years. It was a shame and a disgrace to our country that republican senators made this processes such a partisan issue. The Senate voted 63 to 31 to confirm. Justice Sotomayor will be sworn in on Saturday as the U.S. Supreme Courts 3 woman justice.

Congressman Martin Heinrich's Reaction to the vote:

“I applaud my colleagues in the Senate for confirming Justice Sonia Sotomayor for the Supreme Court. Her placement on the highest court carries deep significance in America's historic journey. Justice Sotomayor is not only a brilliant and accomplished legal mind, but she has a common sense understanding of how our laws affect the daily realities of people’s lives. Her decades-long career yields a depth of experience and a breadth of perspectives that will be invaluable to our nation. This is a proud day for our country.”
